Huvafen Fushi: Reawakening of a Maldives legend
Seductive island dreamscape reconceived by The Small Maldives Island Co as alluring adults-only playground.
Opened over a decade ago, Huvafen Fushi built a deserved reputation amongst dynamic connoisseurs, seduced by the sensuous embrace of this iconic island. Now in the arms of The Small Maldives Island Co, the perennial poise and allure of this fashionable global icon has been lovingly rekindled; reinvigorated for a new generation of sophisticates drawn irresistibly by the promise of a glamorously grown-up rendezvous.
Huvafen Fushi draws guests under her spell from the moment they arrive in the Maldives. New for 2018 is Veloce, a dashing 45’ Italian cocktail of air-conditioned elegance and speed, which skims guests straight to the island in a breathtaking 30-minute blur of jetset style and service.
44 enrapturing, naturally modern villas – each with private pool - have also been further elevated with refreshed interiors, enhanced by exquisite Bottega Veneta bathroom amenities and Huvafen Fushi’s signature Thakuru butler service. Still to come in 2018, The PlayPen, The Grand Beach Pavilion will provide a spectacular space where the most discerning of dreamers can realise their holiday fantasies.
The resort’s legendary spa is newly resculpted as Huvafen Spa. At its heart, the famed world-first underwater treatment area is reborn as Pearl, a unique otherworldly treasure for wellness connoisseurs seeking a deeper experience. Guests can immerse themselves in a curated collection of rituals and treatments, all the time surrounded by the abundant tropical fish and marine life, dancing over the clusters of coral. PURE Massage brings Beata Aleksandrowicz’s celebrated combinations of Eastern and Western massage traditions; while exclusive world class treatments from renowned facialist to the stars Teresa Tarmey include the signature “T T Facial”. Also at Huvafen Spa, Raw specialises in carefully crafted raw cuisine made from organic ingredients, invigorating tropical juice mixes, and nutritious small plates to fuel a wholesome life… occasionally paired with a shot of refreshing bubbles.
Culinary experiences are infused with signature Huvafen Fushi sensuality. Newest to Huvafen Fushi is Feeling Koi, serving Modern Japanese cuisine with an alluring Latin twist. Inspired by Mark Hehir, and born at Amilla Fushi, Feeling Koi is home to the only certified Maldivian Sake sommelier, on hand to guide guests through a sensory journey discovering the archipelago’s largest collection of fine Sakes.
Designer drinks dreamt up by the mixologists from London’s PURL are served poolside at UMBar. Eight metres below the surface, Vinum is a seductive escape for connoisseurs of fine wines and an inimitable place to dine surrounded by 7,000 bottles of perhaps the highest quality wines in South East Asia. Italian-inspired alfresco restaurant Forno and relaxing deck dining at Celsius complete a diverse gastronomic array.
Explorers drawn by the enveloping blue expanses of sea and sky can now heed the call of the ocean at FLOAT. Under sail on a traditional hand-crafted Maldivian dhoni or yacht. Carving through the waves by speedboat. Dancing across the glittering swell by kayak, parasail, catamaran or board. Or plunging below to discover the shimmering shapes, ethereal light and gentle giants of the underwater world.
Huvafen Fushi is open to over 21s only. Accommodation starts from US$1100++ per room per night, based on two adults sharing a Beach Bungalow with Pool including breakfast.
